For those looking for a laptop for work or studies, certain specifications make a big difference; for example, an intermediate-level processor combined with a considerable amount of RAM ensures stable operation, preventing constant crashes even when opening multiple tabs on the device.
HP Model Review
The Olhar Digital portal conducted an analysis of an HP model that can be purchased at attractive prices in online stores. The model in question is the HP 256R G9.
This notebook has a plastic chassis with a matte finish and weighs approximately 1.74 kg, making it easy to transport. The display measures 15.6 inches and features anti-glare protection, ideal for use in very brightly lit areas, and has narrow side bezels to optimize space.
A negative point about the screen is the HD resolution (1366 x 768 pixels) and the use of TN technology, which results in a basic image whose colors may distort depending on the viewing angle. In summary, the screen indicates that this notebook is designed for simpler uses.
In terms of typing, it has a full ABNT2 standard keyboard, including the 'Ç' key and a numeric keypad on the right. For video conferences and online classes, the device integrates a 720p webcam at the top and a dual microphone for audio capture. It is important to note that it does not have a camera sensor shutter, unlike some newer models.
Regarding connectivity, the HP 256R G9 offers two conventional USB ports, one USB-C port, HDMI connection, network cable input, and headphone jack, in addition to support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3.
Internally, the analyzed model uses the 13th generation Intel Core i5-1334U processor, which has 10 processing cores. Coupled with 16 GB of RAM, this combination provides good performance for daily activities and even slightly more demanding tasks, although it is not recommended for those who require heavy processing.
The graphics card is integrated, using the Intel UHD Graphics chip. Although it should not be used for heavy gaming, it is efficient for routine tasks such as internet browsing, video playback, and document access, maintaining fluidity even with multiple tabs open.
Performance is considered excellent for productivity and studies, but it will not meet the needs of someone who wants a device for video editing, for example.
Storage is provided by a 256 GB SSD. While this type of memory ensures that the system starts quickly and that files and applications are opened almost instantly, 256 GB may be insufficient depending on the volume of data stored. Therefore, it will likely be necessary to upgrade the model (it is possible to add another SSD), or resort to an external hard drive or cloud services. An additional alternative is to use an SD card, as the device has an input for these memory cards.
The battery has 3 cells and a capacity of 41 Wh, which is within the standard for models in the same price range. Overall, the autonomy does not differ much from other similar devices; depending on settings such as screen brightness and speaker volume, it should last between 4 to 5 hours without being connected to the power outlet.
Considering a good quality intermediate processor, 16 GB of RAM, and a full numeric keypad, the HP 256R G9 is configured as a great choice for those looking for a laptop for study or work. Whether for filling spreadsheets, writing texts, web browsing, or reading articles, it performs its functions well with good performance and without noticeable slowdowns.
However, the storage is somewhat limited, the screen is not the most advanced, and the battery life could be longer. Additionally, it lacks sufficient processing power to handle more demanding tasks, such as gaming or video editing.
