The latest film by Iranian director Asghar Farhadi, titled 'Parallel Stories,' will be shown at the Adaba Center for Arts and Culture in Tehran on Tuesday.
Following the screening, a review session is scheduled with film critics Mehrzad Danesh and Omid Soleimani, according to the ILNA agency.
'Parallel Stories' premiered globally at the 79th Cannes Film Festival, where the film was warmly received by audiences who gave it a seven-minute ovation.
The film's star cast includes Isabelle Huppert, Virginie Efira, Ekaterina Denev, Vincent Cassel, Pierre Niney, and Adam Bessa.
The drama, set in Paris and inspired by an episode from Krzysztof Kieślowski's television series 'Decalogue,' tells the story of a reclusive writer (played by Huppert) who constantly watches her neighbors (Cassel, Efira, and Niney) across the street and invents fictional stories about them. Reality and fiction collide when a young homeless man (Bessa), hired to help with household chores, brings these stories into the real world.
'Parallel Stories' is Farhadi's second French-language film after 'A Separation' with Bérénice Bejo, which won Best Actress at Cannes in 2013.
This film is a co-production of France, Italy, and Belgium, and it is produced by long-time collaborator Alexandre Mallet-Guy along with Farhadi and David Levine.
This is the fifth collaboration between Farhadi and Memento Production following films such as 'A Separation,' 'The Salesman,' 'All We Know,' and 'The Hero.' The new film from the two-time Oscar winner was shot in Paris in the autumn of 2025 and was released in French cinemas simultaneously with its showing at Cannes.
Farhadi, one of Iran's most renowned filmmakers, is known for his thought-provoking films that explore social issues, at the age of 54.
He won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 2012 for 'A Separation' (which was also nominated for Best Screenplay) and again in 2017 for 'The Salesman.' He participated four times in the Cannes Film Festival competition with the films 'A Separation,' 'The Salesman,' 'All We Know,' and 'The Hero.'
'The Salesman' won awards for Best Screenplay and Best Actor at Cannes in 2016, and 'The Hero' won the Grand Prix at the festival in 2021.
'All We Know,' Farhadi's Spanish-language debut with Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem, was presented and competed at Cannes in 2018.
Farhadi has also participated twice in Berlin. In 2009, he received the Silver Bear for Best Director for 'About Elly,' and in 2011, the Golden Bear for 'A Separation.'
