RMC fined after viral video of rats in McDonald's restaurant

A video showing rats near a table in the dining area of a McDonald's restaurant quickly spread across social media. The appearance of this video raised questions regarding sanitary standards and cleanliness at the establishment.

The Food Department team of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) inspected the restaurant after the video went viral. Dr. Jaish Wakani, an RMC health officer, told a correspondent that negligence related to hygiene was found during the inspection of the dining area.

As a result of the food department's inspection, the restaurant was fined three thousand rupees. No violations regarding cleanliness were found in the restaurant's kitchen. The restaurant manager explained to the food department team that construction work is ongoing nearby and suggested that the rats might have entered the restaurant from there.

RMC's actions following the video's appearance intensified public discussions about the restaurant's sanitary condition. The discovery of a video with rats in the dining area of an international brand like McDonald's sparked active discussion on social media.

People are expressing doubts about the cleanliness and hygienic conditions of the restaurant due to the rat video. Although the RMC inspection revealed hygiene violations in the dining area, no shortcomings were found in the kitchen. Analysis of the two collected raw material samples is now awaited.
