According to a population analysis conducted by Swedish scientists, intrauterine infections are associated with an increased risk of developing autism spectrum disorders and intellectual disability.
These infections include TORCH infections, such as toxoplasmosis, rubella, cytomegalovirus, and herpesvirus infections, as well as other diseases.
The study results, published in the journal JAMA Pediatrics, are based on data collected from over 3.6 million children in Sweden.
