Premier Energies has commissioned its 7 GW production facility for N-type Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (TOPCon) G12R solar cells in Naidupet, Andhra Pradesh. This high-efficiency plant, built with capital expenditure of 3,293 crore rupees and covering an area of 101 acres, will increase the company's total cell production capacity to 10.6 GW.
MD Chiranjeev Saluja expressed optimism regarding future orders, pricing, and demand for high-efficiency solar products. He noted that stabilizing and expanding the production line will enable meeting this demand by improving supply reliability and operational efficiency.
It is reported that this facility is capable of producing approximately 88,000 solar cells per hour. The company also emphasized that advanced digital systems and artificial intelligence will be used to support predictive performance analysis, stricter process control, and precise manufacturing.
The 7 GW factory is designed with future needs in mind, including potential upgrades to TOPCon+ technologies, such as poly-finger metallization and enhanced edge passivation.
Earlier this month, the company signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a joint venture with RCT India, part of RCT Group, Germany, to build a 12 MWh battery energy storage system complex in Telangana state.
In the first quarter of FY27, the company secured orders totaling 3,011 crore rupees, which include the supply of 1,846 MW of solar cells and modules, scheduled for delivery during FY27 and FY28.
The Hyderabad-based entity demonstrated a year-on-year net profit growth of over 53 percent, reaching 471.9 crore rupees for the same quarter. This growth was driven by increased revenue from key business segments. Total revenue for the period increased to 2,507.6 crore rupees compared to 1,869.5 crore rupees the previous year.
Currently, the company is implementing a capital expenditure program of 12,500 crore rupees over three years. The goal of this program is to more than double solar production capacity, expand backward integration into ingot and wafer manufacturing, and diversify into inverters, transformers, and battery energy storage systems.
