A complex kidney transplant operation, the first of its kind in the region's history, was successfully conducted in Bukhara with the participation of a specialist from Turkey. The transplantation was performed on a 50-year-old patient who had been battling chronic kidney failure for a long time.
This first complex operation involving a foreign expert took place at the Bukhara Regional Multidisciplinary Medical Center. The surgical team consisted of local doctors and Professor of Transplantology Mahir Kirnap, who arrived from Turkey. The donor material came from a close relative of the patient himself.
Currently, Turkish specialists continue their work in the region, providing services at the diagnostic center and participating in complex surgical procedures. Cooperation with foreign colleagues allows local medics to study advanced experience and master current transplantology methods.
The kidney transplant process requires the coordinated work of an entire team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists-resuscitators, staff from laboratory and diagnostic services, as well as conducting necessary immunological examinations and subsequent monitoring of the patient's condition.
The expansion of such medical capabilities allows residents of the region to receive high-tech and complex medical care without the need to travel outside the region. Previously, there was also information about plans to allow private clinics in Uzbekistan to engage in organ transplantation.
