The Abu Dhabi Court has restored financial labor debts totaling 7,811,933 dirhams for 948 workers over three months. This measure aims to support employment stability in the emirate and protect the financial rights of laborers.
The payments were collected by the Abu Dhabi Labour Court through court deposits and direct payments under settlement agreements across three collective cases. The total claim amount was 12.3 million dirhams, and the recovery resulted from joint efforts by the court, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation of the UAE (MoHRE), and the parties involved in enforcement.
According to the agreements, 457 workers received their full entitlements, while 491 workers received partial payments. The remaining amounts are being distributed according to regular payment schedules to ensure further debt collection.
In addition to receiving funds, the settlement mechanism allowed workers to retain their jobs at their respective companies, thereby contributing to the maintenance of stable labor relations, stimulating economic activity, and ensuring business continuity.
In the first half of 2026, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation of the UAE (MoHRE) successfully resolved 98.6 percent of labor disputes through settlement agreements. According to the ministry, 185,793 labor disputes were settled through the dispute resolution system. Only 2,481 cases, which account for 1.4 percent of the total, were referred to the courts for further action.
A significant factor contributing to this high resolution rate is the authority granted to MoHRE to directly review labor disputes with claims up to 50,000 dirhams. This progressive measure has accelerated the dispute resolution process, significantly reduced the burden on local courts, and allowed claimants to receive their legal rights much faster.
