SBI to remain closed for the next 5 days; bank advises completing necessary transactions in advance

The State Bank of India (SBI) has requested its customers to complete essential transactions in advance as the bank will be closed for five consecutive days. The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has proposed a three-day strike from September 28 to September 30, 2026, in addition to two days already closed due to Saturday and Sunday.

The bank has assured that every possible effort will be made to provide essential banking services during the strike period. Nevertheless, the bank has advised customers to utilize ATM, customer service centers, and digital banking services during these three days. The bank informed its customers about the three-day strike proposed by UFBU from September 28, 2026, to September 30, 2026.

The bank has urged customers to complete important banking transactions before the strike dates. Although the bank will try to provide essential services, customers are still requested to take care of their necessary work before the strike begins.

For cash requirements, SBI has advised customers to use ATMs and Automated Debit and Withdrawal Machines (ADWM). Furthermore, the bank has also urged customers to use customer service centers during the strike period. Additionally, customers have been advised to prioritize SBI's digital banking channels such as Internet Banking, YONO, Mobile Banking, UPI, and other digital mediums.

This strike is happening when the bank will already be closed for two days prior. This is because the fourth Saturday and Sunday of the month fall before the strike begins. Following this, the three-day strike will commence from Monday, running until Wednesday, September 30. Thus, the bank will be closed for a total of five days.
