The World Organization for Scientific Literacy was officially established on Sunday during the opening ceremony of the World Conference on Scientific Literacy 2026, which took place in Beijing.
This international scientific and technical organization was created with the support of the Chinese Association of Science and Technology. Its registration in Beijing occurred in June 2026, based on the resources, achievements, and international partnership network formed through years of holding the World Conference on Scientific Literacy.
Currently, the organization has 32 founding member organizations from 21 countries, representing Asia, Europe, South America, Africa, and Oceania.
According to the organization's statement, it will cooperate with its members to facilitate experience exchange and interaction, deepen joint innovative developments, and strengthen positive contact between science, technology, and society. Furthermore, the organization aims to jointly raise the level of scientific literacy among the population and promote the positive development of an intellectual society.
