In this free space, electrical wires, air conditioner pipes, and other wiring can be hidden. A metal or wooden frame is used to create it, over which gypsum board sheets, plaster, PVC, or other materials are mounted. After this, painting and installation of lighting fixtures are carried out according to needs.
There are many pros associated with installing a suspended ceiling. The main advantage is the improvement of the room's appearance. Even an ordinary roof looks very attractive after being finished with a designer suspended ceiling, as various shapes and patterns can be realized in it. The more complex the design, the higher the total cost can be.
There is a risk of damage due to moisture. If the roof leaks or the humidity in the room is high, the suspended ceiling may fail. If moisture gets into gypsum board or plaster, problems with deformation, sagging, or panel destruction can arise. Therefore, it is first necessary to eliminate the leak from the roof.
Various materials are used for suspended ceilings. Gypsum board is distinguished by its clean and smooth finish and is one of the most frequently used materials. Plaster can be used if rounded, curved, or specific designs are required, but this requires qualified craftsmen. PVC is suitable for areas with high humidity, such as kitchens, bathrooms, or balconies. Wood and laminate can give the room a premium and natural look, but this involves higher costs.
Before starting work, you must check the room height. If the ceiling is initially low, do not choose too deep a design. It is also critically important to ensure that there are no signs of dampness or leaks on the roof, otherwise, the new ceiling will quickly spoil. When laying electrical wires and other utilities inside the suspended ceiling, rules for proper fixing and safety must be observed. The fan should be attached not to the suspended ceiling panel, but securely to the main concrete roof.
A suspended ceiling can be useful for adding beauty to a home, hiding cables, and improving lighting. However, before making a decision, you need to assess the room height, budget, and roof condition. If the ceiling height is sufficient and the chosen materials and design meet the requirements, the suspended ceiling can look good for a long time. At the same time, in rooms with damp roofs or very low ceiling heights, thoughtless installation of a suspended ceiling can cause problems later on.
