Conflict between BCCI and Ajit Agarkar over selection of India captain

Despite the impressive performance of the Indian team, which won the three-match T20 series against Afghanistan by a score of 3-0, there is a tense atmosphere within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). According to The Telegraph, disagreements have arisen between the current chief selector Ajit Agarkar and senior council officials, which have been ongoing for some time.

A major breakthrough in information occurred amid discussions about Agarkar's departure. According to the report, in 2023 during the T20 series against Ireland, Agarkar strongly opposed appointing Jasprit Bumrah as captain. He insisted that the young batter Rituraj Gaikwad should take charge of the team.

In August 2023, shortly before the Asia Cup, India was scheduled to play two T20 matches against Ireland. The legendary fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was returning after a serious injury after months. Agarkar believed it was necessary to reduce the additional pressure on Bumrah to manage his workload.

As a result, Rituraj Gaikwad was chosen as captain for the 2023 Asian Games. In Agarkar's opinion, the tour of Ireland would provide Gaikwad with an excellent opportunity to prepare for the future as a leader. However, the BCCI insisted that the captaincy should go to Bumrah, as Bumrah himself was interested in taking the leadership role. Ultimately, the board made a decision, and India won this series by a score of 2-0 under Bumrah's leadership.

The conflict between Agarkar and the board was not isolated. Tension between them has existed for a long time. When it came to the possible exclusion of Rohit Sharma from the T20 squad or any other tough decisions, Agarkar always adhered to his intuitive opinion and decisions, avoiding external pressure. When the board publicly supported Rohit, Agarkar was very upset, as it became impossible to exclude the star from the team afterward.

Atlee discussed collaboration with Thalapathy Vijay and Shah Rukh Khan

2023 was a special year for Shah Rukh Khan as it marked his return, during which he released two films, 'Pathaan' and 'Jawan,' both collecting over 1000 crore at the box office. In 'Jawan,' Shah Rukh worked with Tamil cinema director Atlee Kumar for the first time. Previously, he had created many successful films with the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thalapathy Vijay.

Atlee also directed a blockbuster starring Shah Rukh, further elevating his status in the industry. The director shared his impressions of working with Thalapathy Vijay and Shah Rukh Khan during an event in Chennai.

'Jawan' completely changed Atlee Kumar's life, allowing him to gain recognition not only in South India but also in North India. Commenting on this significant career shift, the director spoke about his experience collaborating with Thalapathy Vijay and Shah Rukh Khan.

Speaking about the beginning of his collaboration with CM Vijay, Atlee noted that all the clothes he wears now were earned through his own efforts. However, he emphasized that his elder brother, Thalapathy Vijay, contributed greatly to this success. He stated that it would have been impossible without Vijay's support.

After the release of his second film, 'Raja Rani,' in 2013, he began to achieve success, but it was Vijay who consistently provided him with opportunities for growth through films like 'Teri,' 'Marcel,' and 'Bigil.'

Atlee recalled meeting Shah Rukh before the shooting of 'Jawan' and recounted Thalapathy Vijay's reaction to the situation. The director shared that when Shah Rukh came to his office for a meeting, Vijay advised him: 'I don't know how you will do it or manage it, but don't follow me. Just make this film. It will change the direction of your career.' Atlee confirmed that his life truly changed and that he is very grateful to Vijay for it.

In conclusion, Atlee responded to rumors that he often mentions Thalapathy Vijay's name to get the opportunity to work with him again. The director refuted this, saying that he will not be able to make the next film with him since Vijay has become the Chief Minister. Nevertheless, he will remain a brother to him.

As for Atlee Kumar, he is currently attracting attention with his project 'Raka.' He is shooting this film with Allu Arjun, Deepika Padukone, Mrinal Thakur, Rashmika Mandanna, and Janhvi Kapoor. Preliminary estimates place the budget of this movie at around 800 crore rupees, with a release planned for next year.
