Uzbekistan Football Association announces squad for upcoming friendly matches

The Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA) has published the list of players for the national team ahead of the upcoming training camp, which begins on September 21 under the guidance of head coach Fabio Cannavaro.

During this camp, Uzbekistan will play three international friendly matches: against Iran on September 24, against Syria on October 1, and against South Korea on October 6.

The squad includes both players from domestic league clubs and legionnaires playing for foreign teams. Among the foreign players are Manchester City defender Abdukodir Husanov, Bashkashira forward Eldor Shomurodov, Bashkashira midfielder Abbas Faizullaev, Lugano goalkeeper Bekhruzjon Karimov, Rubin Kazan defender Jakhongir Urozov, Dinamo Makhachkala defender Mahmudjon Mahmadjonov, Saba (Azerbaijan) midfielder Umarali Rakhmonaliev, Baniyas (UAE) defender Azizjon Ganiev, Tractor (Iran) midfielder Odiljon Khamrobekov, and Antwerp (Belgium) forward Mukhammadali Urinboev.

The 'Pakhtakor' club has the largest representation in the squad, including Vladimir Nazarov, Mukhammadrasul Abdumadjidov, Khojyakbar Alijonov, Sherzod Nasrullaev, Dostombek Khamdamov, and Akmal Mozgovoy, as well as players from 'Nasaf' and 'Navbahor' clubs.

UFA specified that five players called up to the national team are simultaneously part of the Olympic team of Uzbekistan, which is currently participating in the Asian Games in Japan, and therefore cannot participate in this camp.

Tickets for the match against Iran can be purchased at the Istiqlol stadium ticket offices, as well as at iTicket.uz sales points in Tashkent.

Uzbekistan Boxing Team to Hold Training Camp in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China

Members of the national boxing team of Uzbekistan are organizing a joint international training camp in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China. This camp is scheduled for September 14 to 24.

The men's team includes athletes such as Shodiyordjon Melikuziev, Amirbek Ismoilov, Saifiddin Sobirov, Abdulaziz Abdunazarov, Shohrukh Abdumalikov, Madiyar Daniyarov, Athamjon Mukhitdinov, Abdulaziz Yurakulov, Safarmurod Allaberganov, Samandar Khabibullaev, Gofurjon Nematov, Samir Sobirov, Shahzod Polvonov, and Ozodbek Aliyev.

The coaching staff of the men's team is represented by Ramz Akhmedov, Yusufjon Tursunov, Ikrom Berdiyev, and Ozod Hasanov.

The women's team consists of Jasmin Tokhirova, Sabina Bobokulova, Zilola Yusupova, Mushtariybona Ibrohimjanova, Rahima Bekniyazova, Sevinch Khurramova, Aisanem Saruarova, Rukhshona Parpiyeva, and Sobirakhon Shahobiddinova.

The women's coaching staff comprises Bahodirjon Nuriddinov and Rustam Abilov. The bouts will be refereed by Asliddin Abdulalimov.

Uzbek Para-athletes Debut in Three New Sports at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Games

A press conference was held in Tashkent at the Museum of Olympic and Paralympic Glory regarding the upcoming participation of the delegation of Uzbekistan in the Asian and Para Asian Games to be held in Aichi-Nagoya in 2026. The Uzbek team plans to participate in 42 sports events at the Asian Games and in 11 disciplines at the Para Asian Games, including several debut categories.

The event gathered Deputy Minister of Sport Shahrullo Mahmudov, Deputy Chairman of the National Paralympic Committee Hikmat Toshmatov, Paralympic champion of Paris-2024 in para athletics Yorkinkbek Odilov, as well as representatives from the media and the sports community.

At the Asian Games, Uzbek athletes will represent 42 sports, 36 of which are part of the Olympic program. For the first time, representatives of Uzbekistan will participate in disciplines such as beach volleyball, volleyball, sailing, squash, and MMA.

Shahrullo Mahmudov commented on issues related to Japan's hot and humid climate, stating that the weather conditions will not be an obstacle for the republic's athletes. He emphasized that the conditions are the same for all participants, and all necessary opportunities for adaptation are provided for the athletes.

Speaking about the potential for winning medals, the deputy minister noted that thanks to state support, the chances of athletes are equal in all categories of disciplines. Furthermore, he explained the decision to send only the women's team to the handball tournament because it has higher chances of successful performance compared to the men's team.

Hikmat Toshmatov provided information on the preparation for the Para Asian Games. At the competitions in Aichi-Nagoya, Uzbek para-athletes will participate in 11 sports, three of which are new to the country: para fencing, para archery, and boccia.

Uzbekistan Announces Weightlifting Team for Aichi-Nagoya 2026

The Uzbekistan Weightlifting Federation has officially presented the national team for participation in the XX Asian Games in the summer of 2026, which will consist of six Uzbek athletes.

In the men's category, Uzbekistan will send five weightlifters. Among them, Adhamjon Ergashev will compete in the under 65 kg category, and Diyorbek Ruzmetov will compete in the under 75 kg category. Hasanboy Berdiev is registered in the under 85 kg category, and Mukhammadkodir Toshtemirov will compete in the under 95 kg category. Olympic champion Akbar Jurayev will participate in the under 110 kg category.

In the women's category, Uzbekistan will be represented by Nigora Abdullaeva, who will compete in the under 53 kg category. Thus, the total composition of the national weightlifting team for the Asian Games includes five men and one woman.

The XX Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya 2026 will take place in Japan from September 19 to October 4, 2026.
