Experts express concerns about the potential threat of artificial intelligence to humanity

Currently, there is an atmosphere of fear caused by the development of artificial intelligence (AI). The rapid progress in this field in recent years has surprised many people, as many entry-level positions are being eliminated in large companies. This causes concern among both new students and working professionals.

Nevertheless, many global experts have expressed serious concern about the rapid development of artificial intelligence. Among them is Geoffrey Hinton, who is called the 'godfather' of AI. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in 2024.

Geoffrey Hinton, a renowned global expert in AI and referred to as the 'godfather' of artificial intelligence, received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2024. At an event dedicated to AI risks, he stated that if a person can sleep soundly despite the rapidly growing threat of AI, they might be underestimating its seriousness. He considers the danger of AI to be very significant, prompting many experts to voice their concerns.

Furthermore, Dr. Prathosh, a professor from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, whose lecture video went viral, also expressed anxiety. He reported that after observing what is happening with AI globally, he himself cannot sleep soundly.

Various aspects of AI usage and associated potential dangers are also being discussed on social media. An OpenAI employee who resigned from the company shared his concerns about AI risks on a social platform. He suggested that within the next decade, AI could become a serious threat to humanity, and also stated a 10% probability of human extinction due to AI.

These statements show that both global experts and AI developers are concerned about the increasing use and potential threats of artificial intelligence.

Artificial intelligence is now applied in numerous fields: it can act as a teacher, provide information like a doctor, assist designers and architects, and simplify many other tasks. Although people actively use AI, the question remains: can AI really pose such a great threat to the world? If so, why are countries not taking any measures?

AI facilitates our work, but along with its expanded application, it is crucial to understand its risks. The answer to how useful or dangerous AI will be in the future will likely only become clear in a few years.
