Karateka Humoyunmirzo Halimov won a gold medal in his weight category, having participated in the ministry games and reached the final.
In the final of the -55 kg weight category, Humoyunmirzo Halimov gave a strong performance against Kazakhstan's representative Joloman Bigabilga and became the gold medalist.
With this victory, Halimov created the opportunity for Uzbekistan's delegation to win the first medal at the Aichi-Nagoya-2026 competitions.
The XX Summer Asian Games will be held in Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya City of Japan, starting on September 19 and continuing until October 4. The overall competition program includes 43 sports, and matches will be organized at 54 venues.
According to the National Olympic Committee, Uzbekistan is participating in these Asian Games with its largest contingent in history; 396 athletes are representing the country's honor in 42 sports. Six athletes have been included in the Uzbekistan national karate team.
