According to Vastu principles, the main entrance of a home is not just an entry point but a critically important part of the dwelling. It is believed that both positive and negative energy enters the house through this passage. Therefore, people decorate the main entrance by placing images of deities or auspicious symbols there. However, Vastu indicates that not every deity image is suitable for this location.
According to Vastu beliefs, placing an image or statue of Ganesha at the main entrance is considered auspicious. Ganesha is known as the remover of obstacles. His presence is believed to help maintain peace and a positive atmosphere in the home. Furthermore, it is recommended to use an image of Ganesha in a seated posture for the main entrance, and it should be avoided to place him with his back facing the house, as this is not considered favorable in Vastu traditions.
If the goal is to bring wealth and prosperity into the home, images of Goddess Lakshmi and God Kubera can be placed. According to Vastu, such images are associated with financial well-being. When choosing an image of Lakshmi, certain rules must also be observed: preference is given to an image of seated Lakshmi, whereas placing a standing Lakshmi at the main entrance is not recommended.
It is also considered auspicious to place footprints of Goddess Lakshmi at the main entrance, which, according to belief, attracts abundance into the home. Additionally, symbols like Swastika or Shubha Labh can be drawn at the main entrance.
Vastu beliefs advise against placing images of Shiva in an enraged form, Shnideva, or Goddess Kali at the main entrance. When selecting religious images, it is important to consider not only their appearance but also the location where they will be placed.
Simply placing a deity image is not enough; cleanliness around it is also necessary. Care should be taken to ensure that dust or dirt does not accumulate around the image. Moreover, the main entrance must have adequate lighting. If an image is hung there, a small lamp can be installed to provide soft light. In Vastu, a clean and well-lit entrance is considered a factor related to creating a positive atmosphere.
