The Cloud Tower has been finalized by the project team and represents the expansion of Kingdee's software park in the emerging technology district of Nanshan, Shenzhen. This tower, which stands 211 meters tall, is situated on the border of a green area and dedicates its spaces to offices, conference rooms, and a restaurant for Kingdee, one of the largest global providers of cloud management solutions.
The main structure of the tower was integrated into the narrow space available on the site, positioned between two existing office wings. The skyscraper's pentagonal design was conceived to optimize the use of the space on the site. As the tower rises above adjacent buildings, the floor area of the open floors at the base progressively expands on the upper floors, creating notable cantilevers that dialogue with the surrounding urban environment, including neighboring buildings and the software park itself.
The base floors were kept open facing outwards, forming a public-accessible lobby that functions as an urban gathering space. Above this level, there is a suspended garden intended to host events and art exhibitions. This garden serves as a link between the pre-existing buildings and houses leisure areas, sports facilities, and cafes, benefiting the local community in general. The openness of the base ensures the penetration of natural light and ventilation both in the courtyard and in the smaller office buildings.
The facade of the Cloud Tower features a folded shell appearance, composed of slightly misaligned stainless steel panels. These relief elements, inspired by the malleability of celestial clouds, generate a dynamic effect of light and shadow that changes depending on the time of day and weather conditions. The reflective glass surfaces of the facade capture the movement of the clouds, giving the impression that the building merges with the sky. Furthermore, adaptive panels, whose configuration varies according to the building's orientation and solar position, help mitigate direct sunlight incidence while still allowing ample natural light circulation inside.
Visible from long distances in the city, the tower not only provides Kingdee with a new and imposing headquarters but also contributes significantly to the social and urban development of the municipality.
