While the admission process for MBBS programs is still ongoing, more than half of the seats have already been filled. Among the good news from the Kota region, another success story has emerged: the son of a low-resource family managed to fulfill his dream of becoming a doctor.
Prabhat Kumar Yadav from Devkipur village, Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh state, secured a seat in the MBBS program at King George's Medical University (KGMU) campus in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, by achieving an All India Rank of 3864 in the NEET UG 2026 exam.
This success is the result of years of effort from his father, family support, and the significant contribution of preparation in Kota.
Prabhat's father, Mahendra Kumar Yadav, spent about twenty years earning a living as an auto-rickshaw driver in Mumbai. He lived in a small slum far from his family, striving and covering his son's education expenses. His grandfather, Indra Bahadur Yadav, along with Banshradhi's mother and siblings, continues to live in the village.
Upon hearing of Prabhat's success, a joyful atmosphere descended upon the family. In a video that went viral on social media, the father appeared moved, while grandfather Indra Bahadur Yadav danced with happiness for his grandson. The grandfather noted that Prabhat honored his father's hard work and self-sacrifice with his achievement.
Prabhat completed his primary education in his native village. He scored 89.44 percent in the 10th grade and 83.44 percent in the 12th grade. Aspiring to be a doctor, he spent about two years in Kota preparing for NEET through the Alan Career Institute program. The institute provided a 50 percent discount on the fees, and his father paid the remaining amount in installments. His uncle, Dayaram Yadav, provided accommodation and food during his studies. Despite the lack of resources, Prabhat continued his preparation.
In his first attempt at NEET, Prabhat scored 504 marks. After this, he focused on addressing his weaknesses and strengthening his preparation. In NEET UG 2026, he scored 627 marks and achieved an All India Rank of 3864. He took the first attempt while living in the village. Initially, he prepared for two years in the village, but later moved to Kota for his dream of becoming a doctor.
Prabhat emphasized that the efforts of his family and the guidance of Alan Kota played a vital role in his success. He now intends to become a good doctor and serve his village and community. Prabhat's success has generated enthusiasm not only in Devkipur village but also in four neighboring villages. Residents, relatives, and local people constantly congratulate the family.
