There are films that deeply touch the souls of viewers, and 'Hanuman Ansh' is one such work. This film, dedicated to the life of Nima Karoli Baba, won the hearts of fans due to its simplicity and spiritual content, demonstrating impressive box office receipts.
However, initially, 'Hanuman Ansh' was on the verge of closure. About eight months before the premiere, filmmaker Vishal Chaturvedi was ready to abandon the project as members of the crew began leaving one by one, believing that making the film within the established budget was impossible.
The creators were hit hardest when the lead actor became seriously ill. One day before filming started, the actor experienced over forty episodes of vomiting and had to leave the project, fearing a relapse of hepatitis B.
But when it seemed everything was falling apart, unexpected support followed: followers of Nima Karoli Baba began joining the project. Although public interest in 'Hanuman Ansh' was evident from the beginning, no one was willing to invest in it.
The story began when Vishal Chaturvedi started writing a book about Nima Karoli Baba and then expressed a desire to turn this idea into a film. He shared this thought with his old friend Namrata Singh, who was herself a devoted follower of Baba. After that, they contacted Ragini, who also believed in Baba, and together decided to make the film.
Vishal talked about the film 'The Indian Thing,' after which the public began showing interest. During this period, many calls were received, and they decided to observe a 43-day vow of reading the 'Hanman Chalisa,' believing that if they wanted to create something so divine, they must do it together.
Vishal emphasized that financial resources were crucial for forming the team. At the last moment, the sponsor they were relying on completely withdrew their support. As a result, the budget was reduced to only 60% of the originally planned amount.
Vishal contacted Namrata and Ragini again to explain the entire situation. To cut costs, he decided to forgo his own fee and take full responsibility for the production.
He also mentioned inviting a very close friend as an executive producer. However, upon seeing the budget, this friend left on the third day, stating that making the film with such a low budget was impossible. Another assistant left a few days later.
Vishal noted that people were constantly leaving the project because they considered it unfeasible. Nevertheless, while people were discussing the impossibility of making the film, Vishal Chaturvedi and his core team continued moving forward, guided by one goal.
Another crisis followed: three days before filming began, the costume designer resigned, stating that it was an impossible task. In this situation, his first assistant (AD) suggested an acquaintance of hers, who turned out to be a costume designer. She agreed after hearing the story, and it turned out she was also a great admirer of Nima Karoli Baba. She immediately agreed to work on the film and prepared all the costumes in just three days. Her name is Upasana Singh.
Gradually, Vishal's initial team dissolved for various reasons. However, it is noteworthy that almost everyone who replaced them turned out to be devoted to Baba. It was thanks to this that Vishal Chaturvedi was able to overcome all difficulties and create a film that is now a huge success at the box office.
