A new web series that will appeal to fans of horror-comedies is currently generating significant discussion. A new series from beloved TV host Asha Negi, titled 'Ali Baba and 40 Ghosts,' has been released on Jio Hotstar. The plot is based on the story of a daughter who searches for her missing father but encounters forty ghosts. This series, which combines elements of fear, adventure, and thriller, features important roles played by Vishal Vaishisht and Ramandeep Yadav. Asha Negi played Alisha (Ali), Vishal played Baba, and Ramandeep played Kinnu.
In an interview with the portal Aaj Tak Dot In, Asha and Ramandeep discussed this project and their roles. They also shared the feeling of horror they experienced during the filming.
Ramandeep noted that this was the most enjoyable part of the show, although initially, he felt the situation was changing. He emphasized that his character does a lot for friendship, and regardless of how comical a person might be, in a critical situation, they must become serious, and his role reflects this.
Asha shared that after working in television, she participated in many projects that tried to undermine her image as a modest housewife, playing numerous ambiguous roles. However, 'Ali Baba and 40 Ghosts' was special for her, and she enjoyed playing this role. She also mentioned that Ramandeep and Vishal Vaishisht did an excellent job in their roles. At the same time, she couldn't fully immerse herself in the process because she was preoccupied with searching for her father.
Asha Negi reported that she felt something similar two or three times during the shoot. She cited one instance where children died or someone was killed. They were filming a scene in a hospital when the screams of relatives calling out to the staff could be heard nearby. This occurred after a child died during childbirth, creating a negative atmosphere. Afterward, they felt that the plot of their show resembled this situation. This happened to them a second or third time.
Previously, during filming, they encountered snakes one or two times. Something related to the story they were shooting would happen. That night, she finished shooting, took a salt bath, and then recited the Hanuman Chalisa. She clarified that she did this not because of ghosts, but to gain peace and positivity to transform negative energy into positive energy.
Asha laughed and replied that if even one appeared, 'it would be the end.' She added that if you think about them or remember them, some kind of energy will appear anyway.
Ramandeep stated that he would lose consciousness because they thought about them too much; if they remembered them even a little, they would appear.
Recently, the topic of Hanuman has been trending. Were they asked about the film? Were they in Kenchi Dham? Asha highly praised the film about Hanuman. She called herself a Hanuman fan and respects him greatly. Two years ago, she visited Nim Karoli Baba and found great tranquility there, describing the place as very peaceful. She decided to watch this film because she had heard about it from many people and read about it in books. She believes the film succeeded because it was made with pure intention, unlike previous attempts to make a film about Babaji, which ensured its success. She said that for those who have read about Nim Karoli Baba, watching this film will be a pleasure. She watched it alone and cried during the viewing. The music in the film is also very good.
Are there plans to return to television or give it up forever? Asha replied that she has not abandoned television. If a good character or a show that lasts for 3-4 months appears, she will definitely return. She likes working on OTT because these projects conclude in 2-3 months. As an actor, she gets the opportunity to play different roles, and after completing one project, she wants to start something new.
Many reality shows have emerged, and now shows based on mind and strategy are appearing. Can fans watch in such a format? Asha stated that she is not inclined to participate in any reality show right now. She dislikes shows where cameras operate 24 hours a day, and she would not want to do them, although she might consider it in the future.
Rohit Roy called the television industry a 'dumping ground.' Does this term devalue television? Asha said she did not know the intention behind the statement, and since Rohit is a good person, she would not comment on his remarks. However, she emphasized that talented actors in the modern television industry perform wonders, and television is not garbage.
