A new case has emerged in Pakistan regarding the kidnapping of two minor Hindu sisters in Tando Allahyar, Ibrahim Colony, aged 13 and 14. These girls were subjected to forced religious conversion and were compelled to marry. The sisters wept during the court proceedings.
This incident of kidnapping and forced religious conversion of two minor Hindu sisters from the Sindh province has once again heightened concerns for the safety of minorities in Sindh. Both sisters belong to the Kachchi Kolhi community.
According to the family, they were kidnapped, forcibly made to adopt Islam, and subsequently married off to two Muslim young men—Amjad Solangi and Mansur Solangi. About a month has passed since the incident, and the case is before the court, where the girls have appeared three times.
During the hearing, both girls were presented in court, but instead of being handed over to their family, they were sent to a safe house. According to available information, the girls cried there, stating their desire to return home. Both sisters appeared very distressed outside the courthouse.
Shiva Kachchi, founder and chairman of the minority rights organization in Pakistan, was also present. He told Aaj Tak that he had spoken with the girls' family. According to him, both the girls and their relatives are in a state of anxiety. They want to go home, but they were directed to a safe house.
The family insists that both girls are minors: one is 13 years old, and the other is 14. This situation has caused serious alarm among Hindu communities in Sindh, which hosts the largest population of Hindus in Pakistan. An atmosphere of fear has settled in the region following this event.
Shiva Kachchi, founder and chairman of the minority rights organization in Pakistan, also stated in an interview with Aaj Tak that the girls' testimonies were not heard, and due to the lack of a medical report, they were sent to a safe house. He accused them of being forcibly taken after the hearing.
According to Shiva Kachchi, the girls were crying while hugging their parents. At that moment, the 13-year-old girl lost consciousness and was taken to the hospital. The family claims they are being treated unfairly. Relatives reported that a First Information Report (FIR) was registered regarding the missing children, and the girls were found, but the court sent them to a safe house.
According to Voice of Pakistan Minority, there is a persistent trend in Pakistan concerning alleged kidnappings, religious conversions, and marriages of girls from minority groups. Data cited by the UK government through the 'Centre for Social Justice' indicates that between 2021 and 2024, at least 421 alleged cases involving girls and women from minorities were registered; of these, 282 victims were Hindus, and 72% of the cases occurred in Sindh. In 2024 alone, authorities registered at least 83 cases, 63% of the victims of which were Hindu girls.
