This announcement by Trump came shortly before his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Currently, the US and China are engaged in active competition in the field of artificial intelligence, as both countries consider AI critically important for strengthening their economic and military power.
Representatives of Trump and technology company executives believe that excessive regulation of AI could slow down American progress and put them at a disadvantage compared to Chinese companies. However, AI safety experts expressed disagreement with this view.
Furthermore, a meeting is scheduled for Sunday in New York between US Treasury Secretary Scott Bassent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng at the headquarters of JP Morgan Chase.
