Leopard CCB2 moved from Kuno National Park to Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary; Minister Mohan Yadav will release it into the wild

Another significant chapter is unfolding within the 'Chitta' project in Madhya Pradesh state. The female leopard CCB2, brought from Botswana, has been transferred from Kuno National Park to Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary. Minister Mohan Yadav plans to release her into the forests of Gandhi Sagar on Sunday. Following this, there will be only four tigers in the sanctuary: two males and two females.

Currently, the scope of tiger conservation and restoration in Madhya Pradesh is expanding under the 'Chitta' project. In this context, the female CCB2, who was brought from Botswana, is being relocated from Kuno National Park to Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary.

The female CCB2 was brought from Gangi in Botswana on February 28, 2026. After that, she was housed in Kuno National Park, located in the city of Sheopur. After completing the quarantine period in May 2026, she was released into the wild in Kuno.

During her stay in Kuno, CCB2 quickly adapted to Indian conditions, acclimatizing to the local forest landscape and environment. She is now being transferred from Kuno to Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary.

Upon arriving at Gandhi Sagar, the number of tigers in the sanctuary will increase to four individuals. These individuals will consist of two males and two females. The tigers already in Gandhi Sagar, including Prabhash, Pavak, and Dhira, will live together with CCB2. The arrival of the new female is expected to help advance efforts for tiger conservation and restoration in Gandhi Sagar.

CCB2's journey went from Botswana to India, then through Kuno, and now to Gandhi Sagar. After successfully adapting to the conditions in Kuno, she is being moved to another wild ecosystem. Kuno and Gandhi Sagar National Parks in Madhya Pradesh are developing as important centers for tiger conservation and restoration. The arrival of CCB2 in Gandhi Sagar is viewed as the next phase of this campaign.
