The Cayucos Ridge Barn, an agricultural shed, is located on the eastern edge of a 60-hectare property in the Santa Lucia mountains, California. Of this area, 12 hectares are dedicated to growing Syrah grapevines.
The 400 square meter structure was conceived to support vineyard activities while celebrating the distinct landscape of the Central Coast. Its strategic position, situated between the forest and the vineyards, allows it to open westward through large spans, establishing a direct link with the working environment.
A wide roof overhang provides shade to a practical work veranda and protects the roll-up doors from the intense afternoon heat, reinforcing the passive environmental approaches adopted in the design.
