Bollywood actress Radhika Apte is known for her candid way of speaking. Recently, she shared revelations in an interview about the excessive number of explicit and intimate scenes in films, which raised several questions regarding the filming process in the industry.
Radhika stated that at the beginning of her career, after participating in several films with completely nude scenes, some people formed the impression of her as someone who would easily agree to such scenes. However, the actress emphasized that she should not perform scenes just because they are considered easy to execute. If a scene is not required by the script, she always asks questions.
During a conversation with Zoom, Radhika recalled her early period, noting that in approximately four or five films, she had to act completely nude. After this, some people began to assume that she was ready for such scenes immediately. The actress added that she had to clearly tell people: 'Listen, I will not do this.' Now, after such experience, she conversely starts asking why a particular scene is needed in the first place.
Radhika reported that she was often asked to do something smaller, such as adding a couple of seconds of kissing or improvisation that was not related to the script. She questioned the necessity of such changes if they were not provided for in the plot.
The actress shared another extremely uncomfortable experience. While shooting an action scene, she was asked to consider performing the scene without a buttoned-up shirt. She recalled being told on one set: 'Can you shoot this action scene? How about not buttoning up your shirt?' Radhika replied that since it was an action scene, the shirt would move anyway due to basic physics. Then she was offered: 'What if you shoot this scene only in a bra and underwear?' In response, she asked: 'What exactly do you want me to do?'
Radhika Apte had previously attracted public attention due to nude scenes in her film 'Parched'. Even after a video of one such scene went viral online in 2016, the actress stated that it did not bother her. She noted: 'I didn't feel bad about it at all. I wasn't worried about the appearance of the film's nude scenes. It's all indifferent to me. I knew in advance that I would have to act nude according to my character's requirements. What surprised me was how much media attention this scene received.'
She continued that she does not think too much about these things, as the film is much bigger than one scene. 'It wasn't a leak of a scene. The film has been released in many countries abroad and is available on Netflix,' she said.
Regarding her current work, Radhika Apte is currently involved in the anthology film 'Lust Stories 3'. In her personal life, the actress became a mother to a daughter in 2024. Previously, she married British musician Benedict Taylor in 2012.
