Interest rates on business loans in Karakalpakstan to decrease to 12%

Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced the reduction of the interest rate for family entrepreneurship loans in Karakalpakstan from 17.5% to 12%. This statement was made during a meeting on the socio-economic development of the region held in Nukus.

Mirziyoyev noted that over the past three years, 2,000 entrepreneurs in Karakalpakstan have timely repaid loans totaling 2 trillion 145 billion soms, becoming reliable bank clients. According to him, the 'client attraction' model is capable of providing jobs and income for another 30,000 to 40,000 people.

The President reported that the bank responsible for the region is launching a credit line of 300 billion soms for verified clients at a rate of 16%. Since the Entrepreneurship Development Company will cover 4 percentage points, the rate for entrepreneurs will be 12%. Mirziyoyev instructed eight other banks to develop similar products within a month.

Furthermore, the president stated that next year, the volume of resources for 'driver' projects based on the experience of Uychinsky and Zarbdor districts will be doubled. 100 million US dollars will be allocated for this purpose to ensure income for at least 50,000 people.

Over the last two years, 370 billion soms have been allocated for business infrastructure development, leading to the launch of 2,200 trade and service facilities and the creation of about 10,000 jobs. He also instructed district heads to develop two additional projects this year to stimulate economic growth and create jobs for 10,000 people, allocating 100 billion soms for this purpose.
