Maruti Suzuki has finally met consumer demands by offering an automatic transmission option combined with CNG, which was previously unavailable in the brand's vehicles. This feature is now available in three of the company's models: the Swift, Dzire, and Baleno, released in the CNG-AMT version.
All three cars use the same engine—a 1.2-liter three-cylinder Z-series engine. Previously, the combination of factory CNG and AMT was offered exclusively by Tata Motors, but Maruti Suzuki has now also started offering this option.
The price for the Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG AMT is 7,920 rupees at the showroom. The Maruti Dzire CNG AMT costs 8,530 rupees, and the Baleno CNG AMT is available from 8,320 rupees at the showroom.
This is the first time Maruti Suzuki has offered an automatic transmission option along with CNG. The automatic versions of the Swift and Dzire will cost 35,000 rupees more than their manual counterparts.
The CNG AMT variants of the Swift and Dzire are equipped with the same 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine. Both cars are fitted with a 55-liter CNG tank. In CNG mode, they develop 70 hp and 102 Nm of torque.
The cars are also equipped with a five-speed AMT gearbox. The claimed fuel consumption for the Swift CNG AMT is 35.34 kilometers per kilogram, which represents an increase in consumption of 2.49 kilometers per kilogram compared to the manual version. The Dzire CNG AMT has a claimed consumption of 36.47 kilometers per kilogram, resulting in an increase of 2.74 kilometers per kilogram compared to the manual variant. Both models are equipped with tuned suspension.
The Swift CNG AMT can be purchased in VXi, VXi (O), and ZXi trims. The Dzire CNG trim will be available in VXi and ZXi versions. These cars will compete with the Tata Tiago and Tata Tigor.
