Darell Matsheke returns to Stellenbosch FC for second contract period

Football club Stellenbosch FC has officially confirmed the return of midfielder Darell Matsheke for a second stint with the club from the Winelands region.

Matsheke previously played for Stellies in the 2023–24 season, featuring in 12 matches across all tournaments. His most memorable moment was the Carling Cup final, where he scored the decisive penalty in the penalty shootout, securing the club's first major trophy in the top division against TS Galaxy.

After his initial departure, the midfielder played for Mcepe Foundation Championship teams, specifically Pretoria Callies and Kruger United.

Commenting on his return, Matsheke emphasized that his main goal is to complete unfinished business, especially regarding participation in continental competitions. He stated: "I feel great returning to Stellenbosch FC."

Matsheke added that he thanks God, as well as the club and the coach, for the trust that allowed him to come back. He expressed a desire to continue playing on the field and help the team fight for more. The midfielder noted that he did not have the opportunity to play in Africa last time, so this current chance will allow him to achieve his goals.

The midfielder has been assigned the number 31, and he is ready for selection ahead of Stellenbosch's upcoming match in the Betway Premiership against his former club, Kruger United, which will take place this weekend.
