Data Engineer's Journey: How Mastering 79 Skills Led to an Annual Package of 1 Crore Rupees

In the technology industry, what matters is not the starting point of a career, but the ability to recognize market trends in a timely manner and make appropriate decisions. Data Engineer Shashank Mishra is a prime example of this approach. He managed to transition from an initial income of about 41 thousand rupees per month to an annual package exceeding 10 million rupees.

This significant career growth is not a random miracle, but the result of farsighted decisions made at the right time and continuous self-improvement. His story was published by a user on social media, providing a valuable lesson to many people.

After obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Lucknow University, Shashank completed his Master of Computer Applications (MCA) at the National Institute of Technology Motilal Nehru (NIT) in Allahabad. Immediately after graduating in 2017, he secured his first job at a service company called 'Opera Solutions' as a software engineer. At the beginning, his compensation package was around 5 LPA, which corresponded to approximately 41,000 rupees per month.

While working as a software engineer, Shashank closely monitored the changing industry trends. He noticed that the future belongs to data. It was with this thought that he decided to change his career path from software engineering to the field of 'data engineering.'

Following this shift, he participated in building large-scale real-time data processing systems and data infrastructure for global tech and fintech companies such as Paytm, Amazon, Expedia, and McKinsey & Company.

Shashank believes that relying solely on a traditional technical degree is insufficient for growth. Throughout his professional journey, he mastered skills in 79 different areas, including data lakes, databases, cloud technologies, data processing, and artificial intelligence (AI). Today, Shashank holds the position of Senior Data Engineer at one of the companies and receives an annual package exceeding 10 million rupees.
