Uzbekistan and SOCAR Expand Cooperation in Oil and Gas Sector

On September 17 in Baku, a meeting took place between the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan, Sherzod Khodjayev, the Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, and SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf. The parties discussed current issues of interaction in the energy and oil and gas sectors, according to the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.

The discussions focused on implementing the tasks defined during the meetings of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on August 23–24 this year. Participants noted that the friendly initiatives of the two heads of state are transforming into tangible results, and the Treaty of Eternal Friendship, signed after the August summit, has raised relations between the two countries to a new level.

Discussion of Projects and Development

Within the framework of negotiations with SOCAR, the development of the network of gas stations in Uzbekistan was discussed, as well as the progress of geological surveys in the investment blocks in Ustyurt and ways to accelerate this work. Furthermore, the parties exchanged views on expanding the partnership between SOCAR and Uzbek companies, as well as implementing joint investment projects.

The meeting also addressed the issue of creating oil processing capacities and organizing the import of crude oil and petroleum products in accordance with the instructions of the heads of state. Participants analyzed the current state and pace of project implementation in these areas and outlined further steps for timely and effective implementation of agreements reached, prompt resolution of accumulated issues, and further acceleration of joint endeavors.

The parties discussed potential future projects that could be implemented and exchanged views on areas where fruitful cooperation is possible in the oil and gas industry.

Uzbekneftegaz representatives stated their readiness to consider proposals from SAKSON Group and discuss practical mechanisms for mutually beneficial partnership. Both sides also expressed a desire to maintain constructive dialogue.

After the negotiations concluded, participants emphasized the importance of conducting a detailed assessment of possible areas of cooperation and continuing the exchange of views on promising initiatives.

Uzbekistan and Armenia plan to strengthen industrial and transport cooperation

Uzbekistan and Armenia plan to deepen their interaction, aiming to develop new initiatives in the field of industrial partnership, increase trade and economic and investment ties, and strengthen transport connectivity between Central Asia and the South Caucasus.

Discussions on these areas took place on September 11 in the form of a telephone conversation between the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan. During the conversation, the sides detailedly reviewed the current aspects of the development of their bilateral relations.

Significant attention was paid to developing new joint production projects. Furthermore, the critical importance of improving logistics systems and creating transport routes connecting the regions of Central Asia and the South Caucasus was emphasized.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev also expressed high appreciation for the measures being taken to accelerate the signing of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. In the opinion of the President of Uzbekistan, such a document will serve as a reliable basis for ensuring stability and sustainable growth in the region.

In addition, the participants agreed on a plan for future meetings, both bilateral and multilateral, including events within the framework of the UN and CIS.
