According to the report presented by Polish scientists at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes congress, removing an insulin pump during sexual intercourse does not provoke a clinically significant drop in blood sugar levels in people suffering from diabetes.
It was established that hypoglycemia is considered clinically significant if its level drops below three millimoles per liter. However, the study found that nocturnal sexual activity correlated with a statistically significant decrease in glucose levels—from 9.16 to 8.16 millimoles per liter (at p < 0.05).
Meanwhile, daytime sexual activity did not show any noticeable effect on glucose levels in patients.
