The first dengue vaccine in India is expected to enter the private market sector in the first half of 2027. Takeda Pharma has entered into an agreement with Dr Reddy's Laboratories, under which the latter will handle the promotion and distribution of the Japanese firm's QDENGA vaccine in the private Indian market for the vaccination of children and adults.
This collaboration became possible after QDENGA received marketing approval from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization of India in July. According to the statement, although inclusion of the vaccine in India's public immunization program remains the main goal, availability in the private market will allow relevant individuals to access the drug. Information regarding the vaccine's cost was not disclosed.
