According to preliminary market estimates, demand for the iPhone 18 Pro series in India increased by 15–28% on the first day of sales. Furthermore, burgundy was chosen as the most popular color this year, replacing the orange color of last year's model.
Apple Inc began sales and deliveries of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on Friday, September 18. According to Counterpoint Research, there is an increase in demand for the iPhone 18 Pro compared to the iPhone 17 Pro, with this growth varying from 15 to 28 percent depending on the city.
The agency's study is based on checks of Apple stores located in Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Jaipur, and Meerut. Analysts also noted that burgundy is in high demand this year for Apple phones, unlike the orange color which caused a frenzy, shortage, and long waiting times last year.
Tarun Patak, Head of Research at Counterpoint, stated that the burgundy color is in demand, and there is also growing demand for higher storage capacity (minimum available is 256 GB). He added that the initial feedback is positive, but it is necessary to monitor the figures over a longer period after the initial launch hype stabilizes.
Moreover, leading Apple retailers reported that the total number of orders for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max has increased by 40–50% compared to the 17 Pro and Pro Max models of last year. The iPhone 18 Pro is a bestseller, with an initial price of ₹1,64,900, while the Pro Max starts from ₹1,79,900. However, thanks to instant discounts and exchange programs ranging from ₹4,500 to ₹81,500, the device can be purchased at a significantly lower price, or customers can take advantage of interest-free installments, which will reduce the monthly payment to ₹26,316.
Nevertheless, the excitement in retail stores this year will be less pronounced because Apple did not release the base iPhone 18 model simultaneously with the Pro and Pro Max. The base iPhone 18 model is planned to appear early next year.
Special attention will be paid to consumer reaction to Apple's first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, which has a high cost of ₹2,99,000. Pre-orders for the iPhone Duo will begin on October 17. This device is available at lower prices in the USA and Dubai.
