Uzbekistan Foreign Minister Saidov Discussed New Projects with Japanese Business Leaders in Tokyo

The Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, held a round table meeting in Tokyo where he met with Takeshi Hashimoto, Chairman of the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren), as well as leaders of leading Japanese corporations.

According to Bakhtiyor Saidov, the parties discussed expanding economic cooperation and implementing new investment projects. Representatives of major Japanese companies such as Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Sojitz, All Nippon Airways, Shimizu, JETRO, Sumitomo, JBIC, Toyo Engineering, Toyota Tsusho, Marubeni, Mitsui, Mitsubishi, and others took part in the event.

Areas for Development of Uzbek-Japanese Partnership

The main focus of the meeting was on the further development of economic interaction between Uzbekistan and Japan. Participants discussed supporting the activities of Japanese firms in Uzbekistan and introducing new investment programs.

Opportunities for deepening cooperation in the fields of energy, transport and logistics, infrastructure, agriculture, and textile industry were considered. In addition, the parties discussed prospects for joint work in the areas of digitalization and personnel training.

Bakhtiyor Saidov noted that the open and practical dialogue was a step towards filling the cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japanese business with concrete projects and new initiatives.
