Chinese and Kyrgyz workers involved in the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbek Railway are developing professional interaction and strong friendship through joint work, according to Xinhua News Agency of China.
The construction of the railway track began at the end of 2024. This project is considered a landmark initiative for cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and is promoted with the support of leaders from China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan.
An Example of Cooperation Between Specialists
Xinhua specifically highlighted the example of interaction between Chinese engineer Yan Dun and Kyrgyz builder Zholboldu Korchubaev. Yan Don has over forty years of experience in railway construction and serves as the project's technical director, responsible for training Kyrgyz specialists.
Korchubaev, aged 32, is from the Jalal-Abad region of Kyrgyzstan and is working on the project alongside Chinese specialists. He considers his participation in building the new railway as one of the most significant events of his life.
The worker noted: "We have never had such a modern railway. For me, this is not just a job, but a way of personal growth and fulfilling my dream."
At the beginning of the work, he found it difficult to master new equipment and technologies, and he considered giving up participation in the project. According to Korchubaev, Yan Don gradually taught him the necessary skills and showed him the correct working methods. Through constant practice, Korchubaev learned to weld reinforcing bars, operate various types of machinery, and adhere to railway construction standards and norms.
The Kyrgyz worker emphasized: "He generously shares his experience, and we are working together on a great project. This friendship is especially valuable."
In turn, Yan Don expressed pride in his apprentice's independence. The Chinese engineer also had to adapt to local conditions in the first days of working in Kyrgyzstan. He cited the harsh winter and language barrier as some of the main difficulties. Korchubaev helped him get used to the climate and familiarize himself with local customs. Yan Don noted that the joint work helped him better understand people from another culture and with a different worldview.
In the opinion of the Chinese engineer, after the railway comes into operation, travel between China and Kyrgyzstan will become easier. He also expects that the project will contribute to the development of infrastructure, education, and healthcare in the settlements along the railway, as well as improve the quality of life for local residents.
Korchubaev called the new railway the "road of hope" for Kyrgyzstan. In his conviction, more convenient cargo transportation can lead to the emergence of new businesses and jobs while creating more opportunities for young people.
Both workers believe that the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbek Railway is not only a transport project but also a platform for strengthening friendship and cooperation between the peoples of the three countries.
Yan Don concluded: "In just over a year of work, builders from our countries have already become one big family."
Korchubaev added that the joint labor allowed him to better appreciate the diligence and kindness of his Chinese colleagues. According to him, the construction of the railway brings nations closer and promotes further strengthening of cooperation between the countries.
