Xbox unveils news at Tokyo Game Show 2026, including Kojima appearance and Persona 4 details

Xbox used the Tokyo Game Show 2026 to showcase several new additions to its portfolio, highlighting important Japanese franchises, Game Pass releases, and an unexpected appearance by Hideo Kojima.

According to Microsoft, the broadcast included 17 new items, covering both announcements and gameplay reveals, in addition to a world premiere and a surprise launch.

Among the featured titles were updates for Physint, Persona 4 Revival, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember, and Crazy Taxi: World Tour.

The most surprising moment occurred at the end of the broadcast when Hideo Kojima appeared to present news about OD – KNOCK and, notably, about Physint.

Kojima Productions announced that Bill Skarsgård will be the main character in Physint. The Swedish actor, known for his roles in films such as It: The Thing and Nosferatu, was seen in a new game poster alongside Charlee Fraser. However, no further details on gameplay or a release date have been provided yet.

Atlus also promoted Persona 4 Revival during the Xbox presentation. This remake version received a trailer focused on Naoto Shirogane, a member of the game's investigation team. Persona 4 Revival is scheduled for release on February 18, 2027, and will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and cloud, in addition to integrating with Game Pass and supporting Xbox Play Anywhere.

Crazy Taxi: World Tour, another presented Japanese classic, confirmed that Japan will be part of the explorable areas in the new title, slated for 2027, according to Sega.

Activision displayed a new trailer for the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 campaign. The plot follows Price on the run as a war erupts on the Korean Peninsula, involving a powerful weapon about to fall into the wrong hands. The release is set for October 23, 2026, with early access to the campaign starting October 16 for those who pre-order the Standard or Vault digital editions.

Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember was also shown, featuring combat against Zuochi, a new demon that will be part of the game. The sequel will be released on March 4, 2027, for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and cloud, with Xbox Play Anywhere functionality. Interested parties can test the Alpha Demo until September 30, and completing this demo guarantees the Fledgling Phoenix Helmet item for use in the full game.

Microsoft also took advantage of TGS to strengthen its Game Pass catalog. Shape of Dreams was surprisingly launched for Xbox Series X|S and is already available on the service. This roguelite offers multiplayer mode for up to four players and supports cross-play.

Additionally, Once Human will receive the free expansion Isles of Abyss on October 22, described as the biggest update to the game to date. This content will bring ship building functionalities, maritime exploration, island survival, and new bosses.

Other announcements included new trailers for Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement, Raji: Kaliyuga, GACHIAKUTA: BREAKOUT, and Bloomwalker, as well as the reveal of Faraday Blues.

With a strong emphasis on Asian and Japanese productions, Xbox sought to consolidate its presence in the region during the Tokyo Game Show, culminating with Kojima's appearance and initial information about the Physint cast.
