Segway has launched the MUXI Pro, a compact electric bicycle designed for urban transport, which incorporates an automatic electronic gear shift, front suspension, and speed assistance of up to 45 km/h.
This model features a 750W motor and a 716Wh battery, capable of supporting a weight of up to 190 kg. Its design aims to allow for the transport of people and objects without requiring the space of a traditionally larger cargo bike.
Although it maintains the typical low frame of the line, the MUXI Pro is equipped with a nine-speed electronic system that performs shifts automatically, eliminating the need for manual selection by the rider.
With electric assistance, the bicycle can reach 28 mph (equivalent to 45 km/h). The Segway app allows for the selection of modes compatible with Classes 1, 2, and 3, classifications used in the United States to determine the operation of electric assistance and its maximum speed, following local regulations.
The mechanical assembly includes a 750W direct-drive rear motor with 80 Nm of torque, powered by a 716Wh battery, providing an advertised range of 117 km. However, this practical value varies depending on variables such as the level of assistance, terrain type, rider weight, and usage conditions.
Other features include regenerative braking, which aids on descents through Hill Descent Control to prevent gravity acceleration, and Hill-Start Assist, which prevents rolling backward when starting to pedal uphill. Additionally, there is a traction control system to monitor rear wheel slippage.
In terms of components, the MUXI Pro comes with 70mm front suspension, 180mm hydraulic disc brakes, and 20 x 3 inch tires. Headlights, front and rear fenders, and turn signals are already factory installed.
The total load capacity reaches 190 kg. An optional kit can be added to carry a passenger of up to 54 kg, in addition to optional front and central baskets.
The bicycle also integrates connected functionalities, such as tracking via Apple Find My and GPS, proximity AirLock, Lost Mode, and remote updates. Navigation information is displayed on a color TFT panel.
Weighing 37.3 kg, the MUXI Pro prioritizes transport capacity in a reduced format rather than being classified as an ultra-light e-bike.
Segway will make the model available in Anthracite and Reef Blue colors for the price of US$ 1,999.99 (approximately R$ 10.2 thousand). In the United States market, sales will begin on September 22nd, through authorized resellers and the company's own online store.
