In one of the households of the 'Diyqan arna' mahalla in the Nukus district of Uzbekistan, honey processing generates an income of about 200 million soms annually. During one season, about two tons of finished products are sold here, and the production of over 250 beehives brings an additional revenue of up to 80 million soms.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited this mahalla on September 18 during his trip to Karakalpakstan. He was shown the processes of honey processing and the making of beehives.
Currently, more than twenty families are engaged in beekeeping activities in this mahalla, with some farms harvesting up to one ton of honey annually. It is planned that another hundred households will join bee breeding by the end of the current year.
Beekeeping has been approved as a key direction within the 'One Mahalla – One Product' program for this mahalla. The beekeepers' association intends to organize bee breeding in new farms on a cooperative basis.
During the visit, the president also held meetings with mahalla activists, representatives of the older generation, and youth. The president's press service emphasized that the further development of the Aral Sea region and the improvement of the quality of life of the local population remain priorities of state policy.
Furthermore, it should be noted that in the Kegeiliy district, fifty families from the Social Register have been given the opportunity to grow produce in greenhouses on plots of ten sotoks. Training courses were organized for these families, and conditions were created for selling the harvest at market prices. 12.5 billion soms in preferential financing was allocated for the construction of a five-hectare greenhouse complex.
