For many years, farmers in these villages faced a contradictory problem: there was an excess of water during the monsoons, but it was insufficient at other times of the year.
The solution to this problem was not to fight the water, but to help the villages retain this water resource. Thanks to the revival of old ponds and the clearing of traditional water bodies, local communities are now more effectively managing floodwaters, which leads to reduced crop losses and increased water availability for agricultural needs.
Today, farmers can cultivate larger areas of land and, in some cases, grow three harvests a year, turning a long-standing problem into an opportunity for development.
