A horrific incident occurred in the Amreli district of Gujarat, shocking the police. A 40-year-old man named Dhanak allegedly killed his five-year-old daughter, Himanshi, and then committed suicide. The entire tragedy unfolded in a room decorated with balloons and candles.
According to the police, Dhanak worked as a supervisor on a construction site. On Wednesday, he was at home with his daughter. He is accused of suffocating the girl by pressing her mouth shut, then placing the body in the refrigerator, and subsequently taking his own life.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Radhula Naina Gordia reported that three suicide notes were found at the scene, left on the bed. In one of them, the young man wrote that he had taken a personal loan and used the funds for construction work. He stated that he could not repay the amount of 7.25 lakh rupees, which led to a loss of patience.
In a statement filed on behalf of the young man's wife, Manjuban, it was mentioned that she was owed 7.25 lakh rupees, but business partners had not provided this sum. Since he had no money and saw no way out of the situation, he mentioned in the note a joint suicide with his daughter.
In the second note, he explained the reason for killing the child. The police established that he did not want his daughter to suffer after his death. In the third note, he apologized and mentioned placing the girl's body in the refrigerator.
The incident was discovered when Manjuban went to visit her father on September 14. She tried to contact the young man, but he did not answer his calls. Later that Wednesday evening, she asked her brother to come and check the house. When the door would not open, Manjuban's brother broke it down and entered. The young man's body was found there.
When the police arrived in the room, they noticed something unusual. Inspector P.L. Choudhary reported that the room was decorated with balloons and candles. The police found out that the young man dressed his daughter in white clothes and covered her with a shawl. Inside the refrigerator was the girl's body along with pillows, and basil leaves were on her lips. There were also chocolates in the room, some of which were also in the refrigerator.
According to Inspector Choudhary, it seemed as if the young man wanted to celebrate his daughter's birthday one last time. Offerings were also being made near statues in the room. Although it was not Himanshi's birthday that day, a piece of paper with the inscription 'Happy Birthday Himanshi' was on the refrigerator.
The police registered a murder case under Section 103(1) of the Indian Code of Criminal Procedure (BNS). The investigation is ongoing, and the police are examining all aspects of the incident, including the three found notes. This scene made the room extremely somber: festive decorations were visible outside, but inside lay the mystery of the father's and his innocent daughter's death. The notes concerning financial difficulties became a key element in the investigation.
