The joint film from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, titled 'Starlight: Jami and Navoi,' has been rescheduled again from its planned September screening. There is now a possibility that the premiere will take place in the second half of October in Dushanbe.
Mahmadsaid Shokhiyen, head of 'Tajikfilm,' announced on September 17 that there are no obstacles to showing the film and that work on it continues. The final date will be set after agreement on conditions between the two states, although a specific timeframe has not yet been announced. A possible venue for the presentation is the 'Toji Somon' International Film Festival in the second half of October.
Earlier, back in March, parts of the film 'Starlight' were shown in Tashkent as part of a cultural program during the state visit of the President of Tajikistan. At that time, 'Tajikfilm' informed about plans to show the full version for the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the independence of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
The film is dedicated to two figures—Alisher Navoi and Abdurakhman Jami. Filming took place in the territory of both countries. In Uzbekistan, the main scenes were shot in Bukhara, as well as in the studios of 'Uzbekfilm' in Tashkent. In March, the film creators were in the post-production stage, preparing various versions of the film in Uzbek and Tajik languages.
It is also mentioned that a Center for Contemporary Art was recently opened in Tashkent, which includes film screenings in its program, thereby contributing to the development of creative industries in Uzbekistan.
