The cost of placing advertisements on house walls depends on location and visibility

In cities and villages, it is often possible to see advertising images of companies painted on the walls of houses, shops, or empty surfaces. These large advertisements are common near shops or residential buildings along highways. This raises the question of how much companies pay homeowners or shop owners for placing such advertisements.

Companies placing advertisements first obtain permission from the property owner to apply the advertisement. Although it involves monetary compensation, there is no single fixed rate for every wall. The situation varies locally, especially in villages and small settlements, where the owner might not be paid at all but instead offered free painting of the wall.

However, for walls with a more advantageous location, the possibility of receiving payment increases.

Generally, the companies themselves do not handle this directly. They engage various advertising agencies or outdoor advertising companies, which then pay the homeowners.

The rent or payment for a wall is determined by its location and the visibility of the advertisement material. Many factors are taken into account when assessing this: whether the wall is in a village or an urban area, whether it is located near a highway or a market, how many people or vehicles pass by daily, how clearly the wall is visible from the road, and what its size is. Information about whether trees, power poles, or any other objects obstruct the view of the wall is also important.

A higher payment can be received for a wall located in a market or on a main street because the advertisement is visible to a larger number of people. In some cases, payment is calculated based on the wall's area, i.e., per square foot, while at the most prestigious locations, a one-time or monthly payment is discussed.

Approximate rates are as follows: in small towns or villages, this may be around 1–3 rupees per square foot; on a regular city street—2–6 rupees; and in a busy market or main road—5–10 rupees or even more. At the most prestigious sites, the rate may be different. For example, at a rate of 5 rupees per square foot for a 500 square foot wall, the amount would be about 2500 rupees. Payments can be made periodically or after a one-time deal.

Thus, the amount that can be received for placing an advertisement on a house wall is determined through mutual negotiations, taking into account the location, size, visibility, and potential reach of the advertisement. There are no official nationwide rates.
