Weather changes in Lahaul-Spiti in September: High peaks covered in snow

Signs of winter's arrival are being observed in Lahaul-Spiti in September, as the first snowfall has begun in the high-altitude regions. Numerous high mountain areas, including Baralacha, Shinkula, and Gapan Peak, have quickly been covered with a white blanket.

The snow that fell on the mountains has drastically changed the region's landscape. Snowflakes continue to fall in the high-altitude zones, while rain is observed in the lowlands. Due to the combination of rain and snowfall, a drop in temperature is felt, and cooling has already begun in Lahaul-Spiti in September.

Against the backdrop of this weather change, photos taken on Gilbu Hill in Lahaul have attracted public attention. The view, which consists of a white snow cover around a pilgrimage procession of believers, looks extremely picturesque. Approximately three thousand pilgrims arrived to circumambulate Gilbu Hill.

Not only local residents but also international pilgrims joined the religious journey. The sudden snowfall during the circumambulation made this experience even more special.

Pilgrims are completing this circumambulation, which takes approximately 14-15 hours, despite the snowfall. Passing through the snowflakes, the believers express joy at this sight. For them, this change in weather has become not so much a difficulty as part of a deeper spiritual and beautiful experience.

Thus, due to the snowfall on the high peaks, rain in the lowlands, and the decrease in temperature, the weather in Lahaul-Spiti has changed its appearance already in September.
