Amap releases ABot-Earth 0.7 — a city world model with native 3D architecture

Amap (AutoNavi) from Alibaba introduced ABot-Earth 0.7 on September 10th, calling it the first city world model created natively in a three-dimensional format. This system is developed based on Amap's spatio-temporal data and utilizes native 3D architecture. Its goal is to generate continuous, interactive, and accessible digital twins of worlds at scales ranging from planetary to street view, covering over 196 countries and regions.

CEO Gao Ning emphasized that Amap's spatial intelligence lies in understanding the world through topology, three-dimensional structure, movement, and time, rather than solely through language.

Unlike existing digital earth products, which merely overlay satellite imagery, aerial photographs, or point clouds onto a globe, ABot-Earth 0.7 is trained to form a native three-dimensional representation and output city scenes from start to finish in the form of 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS). Amap claims that a three-dimensional city at a kilometer scale can be created using a single satellite image or text prompt in about 10 minutes on a single consumer GPU, representing an efficiency gain of approximately 1000 times compared to traditional reconstruction methods.

Furthermore, the model fills continuous space, allowing users not to be limited by pre-collected camera trajectories. The concept of scale continuity is a key feature of the product: one model can move from a planetary level to a city structure, and then to street details, while maintaining the integrity of road networks, blocks, and building groups, subsequently refining facade geometry and materials to photo-realistic quality upon zooming in.

The current demonstration platform is already available, and the model's capabilities are integrated into Flying Street View 2.0, where users can freely navigate complex buildings and vast scenic areas in three-dimensional space.

Amap positions this release within a three-layer structure of spatial intelligence: 3D expression, dynamic surveying of traffic and commerce, and spatio-temporal reasoning for routing and forecasting. ABot-Earth acts as the entry point that transforms Earth from a simple viewing globe into a generative, interactive world model. However, the coverage claims around September 10th are vendor statements; independent teams still need to evaluate the generation quality, geometric accuracy, and workflow on a consumer GPU taking 10 minutes, outside of Amap's demonstrations.
