The iPhone 18 series from Apple has shown a strong start in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as retailers confirmed that demand for pre-ordering the Pro and Pro Max models exceeded expectations. This continues the trend of high demand for premium models observed during previous launches.
The new iPhone variants became available in Apple stores and other offline digital retailer locations across the country on Friday. Rajat Asthana, CEO of Eros, noted that the reaction to the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max was 'stunning, as expected,' with the new color options—burgundy and glacier blue—proving particularly popular among buyers.
Asthana reported that the initial stock of the brand is completely sold out, adding that the 512GB storage option was the most sought-after, despite the price increase compared to the iPhone 17 series. He suggested that this trend will help increase the average selling price in stores.
Eros is currently stocking the iPhone 18 lineup in four Dubai retail locations: Palm Jumeirah Mall, Ibn Battuta Mall, Dubai Hills, and BurJuman Mall. A representative from Jumbo Electronics supported this assessment, describing a 'very strong reaction' during the pre-order period, with burgundy again being one of the most popular colors.
The iPhone 18 lineup is available both in Jumbo stores in the UAE and on the online platform. This situation is similar to the launch of the iPhone 17 last year, when Asthana told the Khaleej Times newspaper that demand was 'unprecedented,' and foot traffic increased by 50% year-on-year, with pre-orders selling out within minutes.
At the iPhone 17 launch, the Pro Max model, especially with larger storage options, also led in demand; some devices were later resold on the black market for up to 14,000 dirhams against the original price of 8,499 dirhams. The official launch of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max this year took place on Friday, September 18, after the pre-order window sold out online in less than 20 minutes.
Both retailers pointed to growing customer interest in Apple's first foldable device, which will be called the iPhone Duo and released next month. Pre-orders will begin on October 16, with availability starting on October 23 at a starting price of 8,499 dirhams up to 13,599 dirhams. Asthana noted that many buyers postponed purchases awaiting the new format, while Jumbo stated that the foldable model 'generates the highest level of customer interest' among shoppers browsing the wider iPhone 18 range.
To support demand, Jumbo announced it is seeing an increase in customers opting for flexible payment plans. The retailer offers interest-free installments of up to 24 months, as well as a guaranteed buyback program offering up to 70% of the device's value with a deposit of 129 dirhams, an improvement over the 68% buyback rate offered at the iPhone 17 launch last year. Furthermore, a Jumbo representative added that customers trading in an iPhone 13 or iPhone 17 can receive an additional 100 dirhams above the applicable trade-in value.
