Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, announced on Thursday (17th) that the company expects to double the quantity of chips sold in the following year. This statement corroborates estimates of accelerated growth for the company in the coming quarters, which is driven mainly by the growing demand for artificial intelligence (AI).
This new forecast comes shortly after Nvidia disclosed that it expects a 70% increase in its fiscal year ending in January 2028, which would correspond to approximately US$ 673 billion (approximately R$ 3.6 trillion), raising analysts' expectations.
Statements on AI-driven growth
During a meeting with King Charles III in Scotland, UK, Huang informed the press: 'I hope Nvidia sells twice as many chips next year compared to what we sold this year.' According to the executive, the primary factor for this expectation lies in the influence of AI across various sectors and economies. He emphasized that 'AI contributes so much to the benefits of different industries, different economies, and you can see this in almost every country where we are: people want to invest in AI.'
Huang also participated in the summit in the UK, accompanied by representatives from Google DeepMind, OpenAI, and Anthropic. His presence occurred at a time of intense debate about AI safety, a topic on which the Nvidia CEO has repeatedly taken a stance in recent weeks.
The public debate about the risks of AI to humanity gained more momentum after warnings from researchers indicating that humans may lose control over the most sophisticated AI systems. In this scenario, Huang defended the position that AI products classified as unsafe should not be released onto the market. He stated: 'When a product is not safe, we must hold it and continue developing it.'
