Insurance companies' liabilities in Uzbekistan reached 4.4 trillion soums amid sharp market growth

The insurance market in Uzbekistan is experiencing significant growth: as of July 1, 2026, the total liabilities of insurance companies amounted to 4,415 trillion soums. This sum is equivalent to 4.4 trillion soums and is nearly 11 times higher than the state budget expenditures for 2026.

Compared to the previous year, when this figure was 2,979 trillion soums, the growth reached 48.2%. These data are presented in the report by the National Agency for Prospective Projects.

For comparison, the State Budget expenditures of Uzbekistan for 2026 are set at 402.7 trillion soums, highlighting that the volume of insurance liabilities significantly exceeds annual budget spending.

It is important to note that having a debt of 4.4 trillion soums does not imply an actual debt; this indicator reflects the total volume of risks and obligations assumed by companies under active insurance contracts.

As of the end of 2025, the total assets of insurance companies reached 15 trillion soums. In the first half of 2026, paid insurance amounts totaled 2.25 trillion soums, while collected insurance premiums were 8.02 trillion soums.

In the general insurance sector, liabilities increased by 33.4% during the year, reaching 3,955 trillion soums.

The most rapid changes were recorded in the life insurance sector. Here, liabilities grew from 13.3 trillion soums to 460.5 trillion soums, representing an increase of almost 35 times.

At the same time, APEX LIFE INSURANCE accounts for 454.97 trillion soums in this category, or 98.8%. The company itself demonstrated a growth in this indicator of almost 48 times over the year.

As of July 1, 2026, there were 35 insurance organizations operating in Uzbekistan, seven of which are engaged in life insurance.

Ukraine's military spending has reached $190 million per day

According to a Reuters report, Ukraine's military expenditures this year have approached $190 million daily.

The Parliamentary Budget Committee stated that Ukraine cannot fully finance its defense spending through domestic resources. This was stated by Roxolana Pidlasa at the YES conference in Kyiv.

According to Pidlasa, in the first eight months of this year, Ukraine spent nearly $42 billion on defense, excluding free military aid. Domestic revenues and internal loans amounted to $39 billion.

Pidlasa noted: 'Unfortunately, the war has become so expensive that we cannot even cover our share.'

The daily cost of the war has increased from approximately $140 million in 2024 to about $190 million this year. This increase is due to inflation, an increase in troop numbers, social payments, and medical expenses.

Over eight months, domestic budget revenues were $1.35 billion below planned figures.

Economy Minister Oleksandr Kravchenko named factors pressuring the economy, including Russian strikes and restrictions on export opportunities through Black Sea ports. According to his estimates, damage to infrastructure and fixed assets has reached almost $10 billion, and export revenue of $40 billion is under threat.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reports that strikes are aimed at military industrial facilities, as well as port and transport infrastructure used for transporting military cargo.

The Ukrainian government is considering reducing or postponing non-military expenditures to cover the defense deficit. Kyiv is negotiating with Western partners for financial assistance, but no quick solution has been found so far.
