In the city of Uruapan, Mexico, a deceased body was left on a public road in a coffin on Thursday. A video circulated on social media shows two men removing the coffin from a hearse and leaving it on the street.
The presence of the coffin was noticed by neighbors and other drivers who reported it to the authorities. According to the publication El Universal, a preliminary investigation indicated that the funeral home was hired to prepare the body and subsequently transport it to a private residence for mourning.
However, the transportation was not completed, and the employees stopped the vehicle, leaving the coffin on the roadway. Authorities found the body of a man approximately 35 years old inside the coffin. The body had injuries to the head and chest, and according to the initial investigation, it had been embalmed.
Authorities have not disclosed the circumstances of death or the reasons why the body was abandoned on the street. The prosecutor's office continues the investigation to identify the deceased, as well as to find out who ordered the transport and subsequent abandonment of the coffin.
