Uzbekistan and WEF Discuss Cooperation Priorities

The Ministry of Mining and Geology of Uzbekistan reported that Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan held discussions on prospects for further interaction in the field of geology. The discussed areas include the digitalization of the sector, mineral processing, and the development of rare earth metal production.

Discussions in Tashkent

Delegations from the two countries met in Tashkent on September 13 as part of the GEOMIN-2026 event. Uzbekistan was represented by First Deputy Minister Feruza Khamidova and Deputy Minister Rustam Yusupov, while Kazakhstan was represented by Deputy Minister of Industry and Construction Iran Sharkhan.

During the negotiations, the parties examined opportunities to deepen their long-standing cooperation in the geological sphere. Special attention was paid to digitalization processes, deep processing of mineral resources, the production of rare and rare earth metals, and the expansion of investment partnership.

The Kazakh delegation noted the high level of organization of the international round table on geological services, which took place within the framework of GEOMIN-2026, as well as its practical significance. After the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to continue joint work in promising areas of geological development.

Uzbekistan took part in the twenty-second international seminar dedicated to the development of the Trans-Caspian multimodal digital corridor, which was held in Baku.

The event was held in a hybrid format at the headquarters of the Permanent Secretariat of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission. Uzbekistan was represented by specialists from the Center for Transport and Logistics Development Research under the Ministry of Transport and the state institution 'Digital Transport Center.'

The seminar was organized by the Permanent Secretariat of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission together with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), with the participation of development partners. Leaders and experts from relevant ministries and agencies of TRACECA and SPECA countries, as well as representatives of the European Commission, the World Bank, GIZ, ITC, and the business community, took part in the event.

Key Discussion Topics

The main topic of discussion was the draft methodology for the Trans-Caspian digital corridor, developed based on UN/CEFACT standards. Participants also considered issues of digitalization of multimodal transport, implementation of electronic document management, and improvement of data exchange among participants in the transport process.

During the seminar, the Center for Transport and Logistics Development Research presented its approaches to the development and digitalization of the Trans-Caspian multimodal corridor. Special attention was paid to the integration of information systems, compatibility of digital solutions, and effective data exchange among stakeholders.

After the seminar concluded, participants emphasized the importance of further developing digital tools, integrating information systems, and improving regulatory cooperation to enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of the International Transport Route through the Caspian Sea.
