Financial Centers of Tashkent and Busan Sign Memorandum of Understanding

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Tashkent International Financial Center (TIFC) and the Busan Financial Center. The goal of this agreement is to develop institutional cooperation between the two financial centers.

The ceremony for exchanging signed copies of the document took place in Busan on September 16 as part of the annual meeting of the World Alliance of International Financial Centres (WAIFC). Alexey Sim, advisor to the Minister of Uzbekistan for Investment, Industry, and Trade, attended the event.

This memorandum provides for cooperation in the areas of sustainable and digital financing, exchange of best practices in the development and management of international financial centers, as well as the implementation of joint educational and research programs.

Furthermore, the parties intend to expand interaction regarding the attraction of financial institutions, international companies, and professional service providers in both Tashkent and Busan.

This document is the first bilateral partnership agreement for TIFC after it obtained full member status in WAIFC.

Tashkent Region and Gyeonggi Province (South Korea) Expand Healthcare Cooperation

The Tashkent Region and South Korea's Gyeonggi Province have reached an agreement to expand their cooperation in the field of healthcare. Three memorandums of cooperation were signed during the Uzbek delegation's visit to Gyeonggi between the regional health department and leading medical institutions of the province.

The delegation, led by Otabek Sultanbekov, Deputy Governor of the Tashkent Region, visited Gyeonggi from September 7 to 11. During the trip, representatives of Uzbek healthcare studied the experience of modern medical institutions and discussed potential areas for joint work.

The visit included visits to St. Vincent’s Hospital, Korea University Ansan Hospital, Siwha Medical Center, as well as centers involved in medical equipment production. Areas studied included artificial intelligence and smart medicine, robotic oncology, modern diagnostic methods, cardiovascular disease treatment, medical technologies, and specialist training.

The concept of the Nurafshon medical cluster in the Tashkent Region was presented at the Gyeonggi-Uzbekistan Business Forum. Participants also discussed partnership opportunities with medical equipment manufacturers from South Korea.

As part of the forum 'Gyeonggi – Prospects for Medicine in Uzbekistan,' the Tashkent Health Department and leading medical institutions of Gyeonggi signed three agreements on mutual cooperation. These agreements provide practical assistance in organizing the work of the Multidisciplinary Medical Center in Nurafshon.

Furthermore, it is planned to expand free professional development programs for Uzbek specialists in leading medical institutions of Gyeonggi. The programs will cover fields such as neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, neonatal surgery, transplantation, vascular surgery, orthopedics, and oncology. The parties also agreed to hold training courses for mid-level medical personnel in the Tashkent Region with the participation of specialists from South Korea.

Additionally, a scientific and practical conference involving professors from leading medical institutions of Gyeonggi is planned to take place in the region in 2027.
