Man arrested in Cascavel for stalking 12-year-old girl after catechism class

In the city of Cascavel, Paraná state, Brazil, a 48-year-old man was detained at the scene of the crime on Tuesday, September 15. He is accused of stalking a 12-year-old girl.

According to G1, the girl was walking home alone after attending a catechism class when she noticed someone watching her. The civil police reported that the suspect repeatedly tried to get the victim's attention during the walk, calling her 'daughter' and saying 'wait.'

The girl reacted quickly, finding shelter in a restaurant from where she called her mother. The family called the police, who soon located and arrested the suspect.

During interrogation, the man denied the charges brought against him. He claimed that while passing the girl, he was talking on the phone with his fiancée. However, the police suspected something was amiss with his version, as when describing the mobile phone he allegedly used, the man listed characteristics different from those of the phone he had in his possession. Faced with this, he displayed nervous and incoherent behavior.

The suspect was detained and charged with aggravated stalking, meaning committing the crime under special aggravating circumstances, as it was committed against a minor girl.

A fifteen-year-old girl managed to avoid an attack in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and this moment was captured on video. According to information provided by g1, the incident occurred on Friday when the student was returning from school.

She was stopped by a person in a car with tinted windows. Thinking it was a robbery, she handed him her mobile phone. The man, who claimed to be armed, then pulled the girl into the vehicle, and she sat in the front seat.

The victim's father explained: 'When he turned his head, she opened the car door and jumped out. She hit her head on the road and scraped her knee.'

At that moment, another car was driving behind the vehicle carrying the victim and the attacker and braked sharply. Despite some injuries, the girl managed to hide in a residential complex, while the driver remained with her belongings and fled.
